Andaman & Nicobar Groups of Island, long fabled among travellers for its legendary beaches, world-class diving and far-flung location in the middle of nowhere, the Andaman Islands are still the ideal place to get away from it all.

The Islands are located in the Bay of Bengal at a distance of more than 1200 Kms from the mainland. This Union Territory is stretched over an area of more than 700 Km. from north to south with 36 inhabited islands and is divided into two districts – Andaman to the North and Nicobar to the South. The two are separated by about 90 nm of sea – The Ten degrees Channel.

Getting to Andaman can be done by two means:

  • By Air

To travel to the Indian union territory of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, it is most convenient to avail the  airport located at the capital city called Port Blair.  The main cities connected to Port Blair are

  • Chennai
  • Kolkatta
  • Mumbai ( Connecting flight)
  • Delhi ( Connecting flight)
  • Vishakapatnam
  • By sea

Port Blair is the port gateway to Andaman, there are regular passenger ship services for Port Blair from Chennai, Kolkata and Vishakhapatnam. However, tickets must be purchased well in advance and the journey (3 days) can be monotonous as the ships have minimal facilities and are not luxurious at all.
